Surrender Novena - Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo
Don Dolindo Ruotolo was a Neapolitan priest and a Servant of God known for his profound humility and spiritual life. He received the Surrender Novena, a prayer that invites believers to surrender their worries to God, emphasizing trust in His providence.
Dolindo lived a life marked by suffering and humility, often referred to as "Mary's little old man." He was known for his extraordinary communications with Jesus and his willingness to embrace contagious sick people, offering himself as a victim soul for mankind. His life and teachings have inspired many, and he is recognized for his role in the spiritual community, particularly in the context of Padre Pio's influence.
Flying Novena (Emergency Novena)
The Flying Novena, also known as the Emergency Novena, was popularized by Mother Teresa of Calcutta as a way to seek the Blessed Virgin Mary’s help in urgent situations. Instead of being prayed over nine days, it consists of reciting the Memorare prayer nine times in succession, followed by a tenth in thanksgiving, trusting that the request will be answered.
This simple yet powerful devotion reflects deep confidence in Mary’s intercession and is still practiced today by the Missionaries of Charity and many faithful worldwide.
Memorare Prayer (x9 +1 Thanksgiving)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored Thy help, or sought Thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To Thee I come, before Thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in Thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
