Prayer of the Week

Prayer of Trust in Darkness
(Diary Note 73)
“O Lord, though I cannot comprehend You and do not understand Your ways, I nonetheless trust in Your mercy. If it is Your will, Lord, that I live always in such darkness, may You be blessed. I ask You only one thing, Jesus: do not allow me to offend You in any way.”
Reflection:
We’re often taught to be independent—to stand on our own two feet, to rely on ourselves. And in many ways, that’s wise and necessary.
But in our walk with the Lord, we’re invited to unlearn that independence and instead embrace complete dependence on Almighty God. Especially in seasons of darkness, when clarity fades and strength feels distant, all we truly have is the Lord—who is Light itself. He has promised never to leave us, even when we cannot see the way forward.
Saint Faustina prayed a bold and humbling prayer: that if the Lord willed her to “live always in such darkness,” she would still bless His name. That is not a prayer for the faint-hearted—it is a prayer of radical trust.
May we, too, have the courage to embrace God’s will, even when it leads us into mystery. For in the shadows, His mercy still shines.
